New grant awarded by ONR for cable manipulation

Dr. Santos was awarded a $1.6M, five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Defense’s Office of Naval Research titled, “Robot grasp and manipulation of deformable linear objects with applications for cable following: Haptic perception.” This award enables collaboration with the research teams of Prof. Julie Shah and Prof. Edward Adelson at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The goal is to develop haptics-enabled capabilities for teleoperated mobile manipulation robots that support human-in-the-loop missions.
